DuPont has been named have been named a finalist for the 2024 U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation Citizen Award.

The global leader of community and social impact at DuPont believes a recent recognition reflects the company’s purpose to empower the world with the essential innovations to thrive.

“That includes our commitment to building thriving communities,” said Patrick McCrummen. “Through our long-standing support of increasing access to STEM education programs, we are putting our purpose into action by inspiring and cultivating the next generation of problem solvers, innovative thinkers, and lifelong learners.”

DuPont , along with North Carolina-based Discovery Education , have been named finalists for the 2024 U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation Citizen Award for their unique partnership supporting K-12 education.

In Delaware, DuPont and Discovery Education reached 95 schools with more than 115,000 students since the program’s inception.

“DuPont is proud to call Delaware home,” McCrummen said. “As part of the community, we want students to have access to learning resources to help them succeed and provide teachers with much-needed tools to help develop Delaware’s future innovators and leaders.”

The Delaware Department of Education partnered with the two organizations in 2021 to increase middle and high school students’ access to high-quality STEM instructional resources and support the development of career and technical education pathway programs across the state that directly address gaps in STEM careers.

DuPont is a member of the STEM Careers Coalition led by Discovery Education.

The Coalition bridges classrooms and careers to inspire and help students learn and implement STEM skills.

The Department of Education declined to comment on the achievement.

Nationally, DuPont’s leadership in the STEM Careers Coalition has helped reach more than 10 million students.

“The DuPont STEM Career Catalyst Program has had a tremendous impact on increasing student and teacher access to high-quality STEM resources, as well as instructional materials that enhance career and technical education programs across Delaware,” McCrummen said. “In the last year, our partnership has supported more than 46,000 students and 1,800 educators through exposure to STEM concepts and career pathways.”

Citizens Awards winners will be announced during the 2024 Business Solves Conference on October 29-30.
