Travis Kelce has made it clear what he thinks about Taylor Swift missing his games throughout the season.
In the first two games of Kansas City’s season, Swift was in attendance to see Kelce and the Chiefs defeat the Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals at Arrowhead Stadium. However, Swift was noticeably absent when the Chiefs defeated the Atlanta Falcons in Georgia and the Los Angeles Chargers in California.
The 34-year-old pop megastar has always made it a point to go to Kelce’s games whenever she could, as evidenced by her journey from Japan to Las Vegas to watch the Chiefs win Super Bowl LVIII over the San Francisco 49ers . Considering the lengths the two go to to be together, it caught fans by surprise to see Swift absent the last two game days.
Kelce, however, understands that Swift has a career and life outside of him. In a clip that resurfaced on social media earlier in the week from 2016, the Chiefs’ star tight end made it clear he does not take offense if his partner - in this case, Swift - does not go to all his games.
“If you’re dating a professional athlete, I do not believe, at least for me, that you have to go to all the games,” Kelce said to WHOSAY at the time . “I mean, there’s eight home games, eight away games, plus playoffs. I don’t even expect my parents and my friends to make every single game.”
Though the NFL has expanded to include one more game since then, the point still stands that Kelce doesn’t expect Swift to be at every one of his games and is seemingly fine with that fact. That said, even with Swift in attendance, Kelce has gotten off to the slowest start of his career - before recording 89 receiving yards on seven receptions against the Chargers , the 34-year-old had only caught a combined eight receptions for 69 yards through Week 3.
With his slow start, many fans have wondered if it was because of his relationship with Swift or if Father Time had caught up to the star tight end. Instead of panicking, Kelce reiterated he was still the same player from before, despite what the stats say.
“I think this year's stats may say something different, but at the same time, you’ll see that same person inside this building, and that’s all I really care about,” Kelce told reporters before the Chiefs game against the Chargers . “I’m my own worst critic. Everything outside of this building is just noise.
“I’m fortunate. I’ve had the success in the past and I realized the ball can’t always go to one person. It can’t always get in my hands, but at the same time, I got all the trust in [Patrick Mahomes] to make the right decision, and he’s been making great decisions.

“We might not be putting up as many points as we want to, but at the same time we’re 3-0 and we’re doing something right.”
Kelce could be on the verge of a breakout, however, if the Chiefs’ matchup against the Chargers was an indication. The star quickly connected with Mahomes early in the game, registering a 38-yard gain, though Kansas City was unable to capitalize.
With receiver Rashee Rice’s future undetermined and Isiah Pacheco out as well, Mahomes is running out of targets in the offense. And as devastating as that could be, that could provide an opening for Kelce to get back on track, with or without Swift.
