(Underwood) Underwood’s 28-7 win over Shenandoah last week put the Eagles back in control of their destiny for another shot at a district title. Head Coach Nate Mechaelsen says this wasn’t the case two weeks ago.

The Eagles are coming off one of their best defensive performances against a Shenandoah team that scored many points.

The Eagles head into week six with a 1-1 record in district play and 2-3 overall. Treynor is 3-0 in the district and 4-1 in all games. The Cardinals have a solid rushing attack with 982 yards, led by a good-sized offensive line.

Underwood is used to being in the hunt for a district championship, but is something Coach Mechaelsen says they never take for granted.

The Eagles’ running game is led by Will Buckholdt, who has 56 carries for 364 yards and two touchdowns. Buckholdt has proven to be a big playback, with one of his two touchdowns going for 77 yards. Garrett Luett has thrown for 791 yards and ten touchdowns. Easton Robertson leads the receiving corps. with 27 catches for 314 yards, and Sam Hulsing has 16 catches for 224.

While Treynor sports a solid rushing attack, they have proven they can throw the football. Ben Casey is completing 55.8 percent of his passes for 593 yards, with 58 completions, five touchdowns, and two interceptions. Three Cardinal receivers have over 100 yards receiving. Jude Mieska, 12 catches for 152 yards; Brock Casey eight catches for 142, and Peter Young 11 catches for 100 yards.
