Albert Lea man pleading guilty to soliciting child

A 22-year-old Albert Lea man filed a petition Monday in Freeborn County District Court pleading guilty to soliciting a child to engage in sexual conduct.

Under the plea agreement, the state will seek no more than 60 days in jail and Brock James Barrientos is free to argue for a stay of imposition.

He will also be required to complete a psychosexual evaluation and have no direct or indirect contact with minors.

The court complaint states Barrientos and the 14-year-old girl sent text messages in April 2023.

She told an officer she had reportedly attempted to block him numerous times, but he would contact her with different numbers.

Barrientos is slated to officially enter the plea Oct. 17 in court.
