Swinney Gives Progress Report on Pair of ‘Really Good Young Talents’

Following Wednesday’s practice, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney gave a progress report on a pair of talented true freshmen cornerbacks – Corian Gipson and Tavoy Feagin.

Gipson has been sidelined for a few weeks but returned to practice this week, per Swinney, who likes what he’s seen from the 6-foot-1, 185-pounder at practice after his missed time.

“He just got back. He hasn’t practiced in probably three weeks,” Swinney said of Gipson. “So, he’s actually just got back to practice this week… He hasn’t been healthy. He’s had a couple of pretty good days. So, he’s just working his way back into practice because he hasn’t practiced in a while.”

Gipson enrolled at Clemson this past January as a four-star and top-100 national prospect in the 2024 recruiting class. The Fort Worth, Texas, native has appeared in two games this season, making his college debut on special teams in the Aug. 31 opener vs. Georgia before playing six snaps on defense in the Sept. 7 game vs. App State.

Swinney also shared an update on where things stand with Feagin, saying the Tigers want to redshirt the 6-foot, 180-pounder from Tampa, Fla.

“Tavoy, we’re trying to redshirt and hold,” Swinney said.

Like Gipson, Feagin joined Clemson in January as a four-star prospect in the 2024 class according to multiple recruiting services. Feagin has played in one game so far this season, debuting with nine defensive snaps vs. App State.

“Both those guys are really good young talents,” Swinney said of Feagin and Gipson.
