Over the past week, Hurricane Helene has ripped through the American Southeast and caused widespread destruction and devastation, going on record as the second deadliest hurricane in our nation's history.

After the storm passed, we saw some of the destruction that took place at Augusta National Golf Club, in Augusta, Georgia, home of The Masters Tournament. About a week later, Fred Ridley, the Chairman of Augusta National, made a big announcement about ANGC.

The club will be donating $5 million towards the Hurricane Helene Community Crisis Fund, which will support local relief efforts in response to the devastating impact of the storm throughout the greater Augusta community.

"I was in Augusta in the days immediately after the storm, and have seen first-hand its devastating impact on our employees, community, neighbors, and business owners," Ridley said. "It is certainly the most destructive storm the area has seen in our lifetimes. Our foremost concern today is how we can support our employees and neighbors in the community who have been gravely impacted."

This announcement comes not long after drone footage went viral online showing the destruction that took place on the grounds of Augusta National, falling trees down the historic Magnolia Lane and ripping parts of the course apart.

We don't yet know what the cleanup efforts look like on the grounds in Augusta, but it's honorable and encouraging to hear that the ANGC is doing what it can to help support the cause around them and work with their community to rebuild after the terrible storm.

Time is on the side of the grounds crew, fortunately. The 90th annual Masters Tournament will begin on April 7, 2025, kicking off the major tournament schedule for the year on the PGA Tour.
