The New York Giants may be without the catalyst of the offense as star Malik Nabers progresses through the concussion protocol.

Even with a few extra days off after playing the Thursday night game in Week 4, Nabers is currently in the concussion protocol after exiting the game late against the Dallas Cowboys.

Entering Week 5, Nabers leads the NFL with 35 receptions and is second in the NFL with 386 receiving yards (behind only Nico Collins). He's also tied with Collins for the most receptions of 20 or more yards (seven).

    Malik Nabers injury update

Nabers did not practice Wednesday to open the week ahead of the Week 5 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.

Early Thursday morning, Jordan Raanan of ESPN reported that Nabers seems like a "long shot" to play in Week 5.

Nabers would have to progress rather quickly through the protocol, but he still has a chance to play if he can log a limited practice in a red non-contact jersey on Thursday. If Nabers doesn't practice, it's extremely unlikely he will play.

There's no understating what Nabers means to the Giants offense. His absence against a tough Seahawks defense would make the Giants even bigger underdogs than they already are.

If Nabers doesn't play, the Giants will have to rely on Wan'Dale Robinson, Darius Slayton and Jalin Hyatt.
