50 Cent says the lack of intelligence in today's rap music is the main reason why he decided to step away from the recording booth.

During an interview with Earn Your Leisure at their recent Invest Fest, the filmmaker and artist told hosts Rashad Bilal and Troy Millings that he'd have to tap into his "stupid side" to compete with the current state of Hip-Hop music.

“If you listen to the music that’s out right now, I have to tap into my stupid," he explained. "I have to tap into the stupid side of me to write the right thing when it comes time to write the music."

“This why I haven’t created as much content as I was creating in the past and I started going towards the film production and development of these projects," he added. "Because I can impact things in a bigger way through that.”

50 Cent is right about one thing: he has made a cultural impact with his TV programming. For the past 10 years, Jackson has kept fans at the edge of their seats with his "Power" franchise. The original series starring Omari Hardwick and Naturi Naughton spawned three spin-off shows including "Power Book II: Ghost," which is set to end this week, "Power Book III: Raising Kanan," and "Power Book IV: Force." He also just launched G-Unit Films & Television's new production studios in Shreveport, Louisiana where he plans to create more films and series.

As far as his music career goes, Fif hasn't dropped a full-length album since his 2014 LP Animal Ambition: An Untamed Desire To Win . Since then, he's knocked out a few collaborations including recent hits with Nicki Minaj , Nas and Eladio Carrion . In addition to scattered collaborations, 50 Cent also hinted at making more new music with the likes of Eminem and Dr. Dre . Earlier this year, he announced his plans to make new music and told Big Boy that Em and Dre offered their assistance.

“As soon as I said that, I got a text from [Eminem] that he had already spoke to Dre, and that Dre is in there and he got some crazy stuff for me to go hear," Fif said.
