When Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, launched her first podcast, it was an instant hit. Her series, Archetypes, quickly topped the charts with its exploration of labels often imposed on women and their potential harm.

To help dissect these labels, Meghan enlisted a host of academics, authors, and A-list friends.

From Mariah Carey to Serena Williams, Meghan's podcast boasted a roster of high-profile guests ready to discuss the negative labels they've faced in their successful careers. However, one A-lister "respectfully declined" an invitation to appear on the show, despite receiving a "personal letter" from Meghan herself.

The celebrity that Meghan was eager to feature on Archetypes was none other than global superstar Taylor Swift. According to OK Magazine, the Duchess wrote a "personal letter" to the singer-songwriter in hopes of persuading her to participate, but Taylor "respectfully declined" via her official representative.

Taylor has previously declined a royal request, according to a shocking revelation in a book published last year. The pop queen was reportedly asked to perform at King Charles's coronation concert in May 2023, but she turned down the invitation, as reported by Omid Scobie in his book Endgame, reports the Mirror .

The reason? She was in the midst of her record-breaking Eras Tour.

Despite her inability to perform at the coronation, there seemed to be no hard feelings when Taylor brought her Eras Tour to the UK this year. In fact, she had some special royal guests.

Prince William celebrated his 42nd birthday at her concert in Wembley Stadium in June, accompanied by his two oldest children - Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

The pop star took photos with William and his kids, which she later shared on her official social media accounts, wishing the future king a happy birthday. William was seen enjoying himself and dancing throughout the night at the concert.

His cousin Zara Tindall and her husband Mike were also present at the sold-out event.
