Why is October 3 rd significant to ‘Mean Girls’ fans?
October 3 rd has a special significance for us fans. Cady Heron, portrayed by Lindsay Lohan, instilled this line in our memories forever as she acted exactly how any girl would in front of her crush, who just so happens to be Aaron Samuels (Jonathan Bennett).
In the movie, Cady says, “On October 3 rd , he asked me what day it was.”
“It’s October 3 rd ,” she responded to Aaron, hence the special meaning behind the date. The movie scene has gone on to become such a significant moment in the film and its own holiday. Watch the scene below:
Nobody is safe from the October 3 rd holiday, as Lohan shared that is the most repeated quote from the movie.

Another simple celebratory move is to wear pink today, as the mean girls are all about it, or to go shopping because of Regina’s iconic line, “ Get in loser, we’re going shopping .” We don’t exactly recommend writing in a Burn Book, but to each their own.
What is the 2004 ‘Mean Girls’ about?
Mean Girls follows Cady Heron, the new girl who recently moved from Africa with her scientist parents. Now in the middle of Illinois, Cady must learn to adjust to public school and the new life that comes along with it, including boys, cliques and mean girls.
Cady finds herself falling in with a group of girls called “The Plastics,” consisting of the popular Regina George (Rachel McAdams) and her two minions, Gretchen Wieners (Lacey Chabert) and Karen Smith (Amanda Seyfried). While she tries to stay true to herself and her other friends, Cady gets lost in the way of life of the Plastics, wearing pink on Wednesdays and never wearing sweatpants on a Friday.
Of course, when Regina finds out Cady is interested in Aaron, she intervenes, causing Cady to plot to take Regina down. Written by comedian and actress Tina Fey, Mean Girls is the perfect movie to watch if you’re looking for a little Y2K nostalgia. You might even say it’s “grool” (a cross between great and cool, duh).

About the 2024 ‘Mean Girls’ movie
Of course, the original movie from 2004 is the one you should watch if you’ve never seen Mean Girls . But in January 2024, the movie was adapted into a musical film, starring Reneé Rapp, Angourie Rice and Christopher Briney.
While the new movie follows the same theme of the original, it is not a direct remake. The 2024 version is based on the Broadway musical, Mean Girls , and has been updated to seem more modern. This version also includes social media, something that didn’t exist the first time around.
Whether you rewatch the original film or dress in pink, there’s no wrong way to celebrate Mean Girls Day—so embrace the fetch vibes this October 3rd!
