Madison Police Department Addresses Rumors Swirling around Fatal Bus Accident

In the early afternoon on Thursday, October 3rd, 2024, Madison Police Department released a statement addressing rumors that have begun circulating regarding the tragic bus accident that led to the death of an eight year old child.

According to the press release from Madison Police Department, there was no indication that the bus driver was operating the vehicle under any sort of impaired state.

However, as a part of standard procedure in such an incident, when a fatality occurs, Madison Police Department had a DUI/Drug Recognition Expert on the scene. The appearance of this person has caused rumors to circulate that the driver was operating under the influence.

Madison Police Department wishes to clarify that at the moment, there is no suspicion or confirmation of driver impairment. However, the toxicology samples have been submitted, so the department is currently waiting for the results. The results will be sent to the Madison/Rankin District Attorney's Office.
