Update: The suspect is now under arrest.

Shortly after 6:00pm, they were able to take him into custody.

Sgt. Barry Fletcher said, "During the standoff the suspect moved to the roof of an apartment building."

A short time later cops arrested 32-year-old Hector J. Flores.

"The suspect was taken into custody by New Orleans Police and then removed from the roof by New Orleans Fire Department personnel."

Fletcher says Flores was not injured.

    Original story:

NOPD says federal agents were investigating a recent kidnapping and armed robbery case when the suspect shot at them, then barricaded himself inside an apartment complex near the 7000 block of Lawrence Road.

Robert Russa Moton Charter School nearby went into lockdown as a precaution.

Police are advising residents to avoid that area.
