COVENTRY TWP. — A teen was charged with aggravated robbery after a 51-year-old man was carjacked Tuesday at gunpoint at a Sheetz gas station.

The victim had been drying his vehicle at the Sheetz on West Waterloo Road when three males in a stolen car pulled up next to him, the Summit County Sheriff’s Office stated in a news release. The three males exited the vehicle wearing masks, displaying handguns and demanding the car keys. The suspects also demanded the victim's shoes.

The suspects fled in the victim's car and then stopped at a gas station on Lovers Lane in Akron, the news release said.

The vehicle with the suspects was later located by Akron Police at a different gas station on Lovers Lane. When officers approached the car, all three suspects fled on foot.

After a brief foot pursuit, the driver, a 17-year-old male from Cleveland, was detained by officers, the sheriff's office said. One of the firearms believed to have been used in the robbery was recovered from the stolen car.

The juvenile suspect was transported to the Summit County Juvenile Detention Center and charged with aggravated robbery.

Anyone with information on the remaining two suspects is asked to call the Summit County Sheriff's Office Detective Bureau at (330) 643-2131.

They should be treated like an adult. You do adult crimes than they should be punished like an adult.
