Eric Young was re-hired by WWE in November 2022, although after not appearing on television, he requested and was granted his release in April 2023. And now, while being interviewed by Chris Van Vliet , the current TNA star has explained that while there were several reasons, the main one was that he didn’t want to work for Vince McMahon, who had returned to the company after previously retiring in disgrace. Additionally, he revealed that he had to sign an NDA, which prevented him from giving more information.

“The number one reason was I just I don’t want to work for a person like that. You know, and this is long before all the other stuff would come out, but I’m I was pretty convinced I knew who he was and how he was and most of all most professionally one, but more importantly for me, morally, I just can’t work for a human being like that so I asked for my release and was granted it, and I’m not saying any of the stuff because I had to sign an NDA … I don’t regret it not at all I’m I it’s I think it’s the coolest for me it’s not lost to me that I was able to walk away from money like that, you know, stability like that because of what I believe beliefs that I the kind of human being that I am.”

44-year-old Young built his name in TNA, but after a twelve-year run with the promotion and feeling underpaid, he left in 2016 for a new challenge. This would see him debut on NXT a few months later, losing to Samoa Joe, and having impressed WWE management, he returned to be the leader of Sanity. Subsequntly, the faction would be treated as a big deal in NXT, but things went downhill once they moved to SmackDown in 2018, with the low point being a three-on-one handicap match loss to The Miz.
