Jennifer Aniston explains 'inner trauma' after being forced to belly dance as a child

Jennifer Aniston opened up about how performing before she made it big affected her as a child.

She explained that her parents, who were heavily involved in the entertainment industry, made her belly dance in front of family. The information had previously spread, with the belief being that it was a Christmas Eve tradition, but Jennifer cleared it up, explaining that, actually, it wasn't exclusive to the holiday and, instead, it was "anytime."

The actress spoke with Jimmy Kimmel on Wednesday night, saying: "You know. The Greeks love any kind of a family dinner, they would say, 'Let's get up and watch' - it's like when you say to your child, 'Play piano for everyone, let's sing for everyone.'"

Her experience affected Jennifer deeply and emotionally. "I get such anxiety when my friends do that to their children. I have inner trauma from having to perform and belly dance in front of my Greek aunts and uncles and grandmothers," she admitted.

Jennifer attributed the requests to dance to her Greek heritage, telling EW in 2016 that she would "dress up like a little Greek girl." However, according to the actress, there were a bit of insidious intentions hanging there, too. The A-lister thinks they were hoping to "humiliate" her.

She further addressed other rumors and speculation about her life, including one about a secret romance with Barack Obama. It was spurred by inTouch article where a source told the publication: "With the election coming up in November, Jen has gotten very political, so sheʼs found herself in Barackʼs world a lot lately. Heʼs gone Hollywood, so heʼs now in Jenʼs world. He has production deals going [with Netflix]. They have found they have a lot in common — and are talking more and more.”

It didn't take long for her publicist to debunk the rumor. Jennifer explained to Jimmy that she couldn't imagine what would be on the other side of that phone call from her publicist. However, in retrospect, she noted, "I was not mad at it," in regards to the rumor as she laughed off the past incident
