Firebrand Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene on Thursday blamed America's evils on God's "punishment" for "murdering babies" and separately said she doesn't want to give the Federal Emergency Management Agency "a damn penny" despite the agency's desperate plea that it does not have enough funding to make it through this hurricane season.

FEMA is being stretched as it continues to respond to the aftermath of the deadly Hurricane Helene , delivering food, water, generators and other vital supplies, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas told reporters Wednesday, according to The Associated Press.

The massive storm barrelled into the Southeast and flooded multiple towns, killing more than 160 people.

At a town hall on Thursday, Greene addressed FEMA's plea when asked by a constituent, and separately said the country "feels like it is under judgment" since the Roe v. Wade ruling in 1983.

In response to a submitted question about FEMA seeking more hurricane funds, Greene said: "Hmm, $640 million spent on illegals. I'm not giving them a damn penny!"

The claim, which has become a talking point on the right, stems from the DHS website under its Shelter and Services Program.

"For Fiscal Year (FY) 2024, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security will provide $640.9 million of available funds to enable non-federal entities to off-set allowable costs incurred for services associated with noncitizen migrant arrivals in their communities ," the site said.

FEMA's fiscal year 2024 budget, which began Oct. 1, 2023, was about $30 billion . The proposed 2025 budget is about $33 billion.

Greene's comment also comes after she pleaded with the federal government to “send the funds” to help the region's recovery.

“The storm was supposed to come directly across my district, but when it came through Georgia, it went to the east, and we mainly just got a lot of rain,” Greene told Real America’s Voice. “When we go back to Washington, we will be working hard to make sure that states like Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, North Carolina get the funding that they need .”

Separately, Greene was also asked if she considered the country has "evil leaders" as a result of the "Almighty's punishment" because "we have turned" from God.

Greene suggested such evil stems from Roe v. Wade.

"We've been murdering babies since 1983," she said. "Abortion has been legal in this country since Roe v. Wade in 1973. We have been murdering over 63 million people in the womb."

Greene added: "It's no wonder that our nation feels like it is under judgment. And I say that as a Christian. And I think that's true. And politics is literally in America today is a fight between good and evil. And the line is clear."
