NBA Trade Pitch Lands Lakers $60 Million Center

With the 2024-25 NBA regular season just around the corner, one suggested trade pitch has a $60 million center headed the Los Angeles Lakers way.

After finishing last season with the eighth seed in the Western Conference and a 47-35 record, the Lakers faced the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the NBA playoffs.

They would go on to lose the series, 4-1. Following this exit, they parted ways with head coach Darvin Ham and hired JJ Redick , a first-time head coach.

While the Lakers retained stars LeBron James and Anthony Davis, they made no free-agent signings over the summer. However, they did draft Dalton Knect from Tennessee and Bronny James, LeBron’s son, from USC.

Though the Lakers seem content with their team, for now, they could perhaps use a center. Brandon "Scoop B" Robinson , a national sports broadcaster, came up with a trade for the Lakers to land one.

He proposed the Lakers to land Mitchell Robinson in exchange for Gabe Vincent, a 2025 2nd-round pick, and a "filler" like Jalen Hood-Schifino.

As of right now, the Lakers are expected to roll with three centers: Anthony Davis (6' 10"), Jaxson Hayes (7' 0"), and Christian Wood (6' 8").

While Davis is their star big man, the depth behind him could use a boost.

Hayes brings the height but hasn’t been reliable, averaging just 4.3 points and 3.0 rebounds last season. On the other hand, Wood had a bit more production with 6.9 points and 5.1 rebounds per game but lacks the size.

Adding a 7-footer like Mitchell Robinson would help tremendously, especially in the rebounding department. Last season with the Knicks, he averaged 5.6 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.

The Lakers will open the preseason on Friday against the Minnesota Timberwolves. They'll play six exhibition games before hosting the Timberwolves again on opening night.

Tipoff for that one is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET on Oct. 22.
