    Hazardous Waste, Motor Oil & Electronics Collection Event on 10/5

    The Resource & Energy Division of the Will County Land Use Department will be holding a hazardous waste, motor oil, and electronics collection event on Saturday, October 5 from 8 AM to 3 PM CT in Channahon.

    Here is a look at the electronics that will be accepted on Saturday.

    TV's (limit of 2), computers, laptops, tablets, notebooks, monitors, printers, copiers, mice, speakers, cameras, video cameras, telephones, answering machines, microwaves, stereos, vacuum cleaners, toaster ovens, blenders (no glass), coffee makers (no glass), and power tools.

    Here is a list of the hazardous waste that will be accepted for collection.

    Paint/Stains (limit 15 gallons), old or unwanted medication, paint thinners, solvents, drain cleaners, cleaning products, rechargeable batteries, any items with mercury, aerosol paints, pesticides, lawn & garden chemicals and fertilizers, used oil, used oil filters, old gasoline, antifreeze, Automotive and boat batteries, fluorescent light bulbs (limit 15), compact fluorescent light bulbs, pool chemicals, and driveway sealer.

    Here is a list of materials that will not be accepted by the Resource & Energy Division.

    Fireworks, explosives, agricultural wastes, fire extinguishers, ammunition, radioactive material, institutional wastes, controlled substances, alkaline batteries, business wastes, regular garbage, tires, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, medical waste, sharps, gas cylinders, appliances, electronic exercise equipment, wooden speakers, and dehumidifiers.

    To participate in this event, you will have to set an appointment on this link provided by Will County. You will have to enter your name, your email address, and your phone number along with picking a time you want to show up on Saturday.

    Once you set an appointment, you will then receive the exact location in Channahon where the event is taking place. When you arrive at the location that was given to you on Saturday, then you must show the workers a valid ID for the items to be collected.
