Two powerhouses collide as the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres face off in the best-of-five National League Division Series.

The Dodgers won the NL West for the fourth time in five years. The team was led by Shohei Ohtani, the $700 million man the team picked up in the offseason. Ohtani’s first year with Los Angeles included the first 50-50 season in MLB history, which should make him the clear frontrunner for NL MVP.

Los Angeles also saw strong seasons from Teoscar Hernandez, who had over 30 home runs and almost reached the 100 RBI mark, and All-Star first baseman Freddie Freeman. Another solid signing was Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who, while often injured, went 7-2 with a 3.00 ERA in 18 games.

San Diego traded phenom Juan Soto to the Yankees, but the team stayed strong. Luis Arraez got traded to the team early in the season and won his third straight batting title, hitting .318. The Padres also traded for Dylan Cease, who pitched a no-hitter, and Michael King, who went 13-9 with a 2.95 ERA.

The postseason is nothing new to the Dodgers, but the Padres have attempted to break free from the former's grasp within the NL West and the league. Bragging rights and a chance to make it to the NLCS are on the line. Something has to give in the Battle of California.

The Sporting News has you covered with everything that you need to know about the National League Division Series between the Dodgers and Padres.
