Netflix subscribers have been disappointed by the streaming giant once more as another highly-rated series has been axed after just two seasons.

Adding insult to injury, this follow-up to a cherished 1990s sitcom wrapped up its latest chapter with a tantalizing cliffhanger and countless unresolved plotlines.

The successor to the immensely popular That 70s Show featuring Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis, a third season of That 90s Show won't be gracing our screens in the near future.

Starring reprising cast members Debra Jo Rupp and Kurtwood Smith as Kitty and Red Forman, the series tracks their granddaughter Leia (played by Callie Haverda), who forms new friendships during her summer stay with her grandparents in 1995.

Launched in two segments in June and August 2024, season two left Leia's destiny hanging in the balance after she chose to reside with Kitty and Red in Point Place for the academic year, reports the Mirror .

However, her mother Donna Pinciotti (Laura Prepon) had a disagreement with Kitty over the decision, and the season finale ends with hints that she might reconsider her choice to let Leia remain.

Simultaneously, Leia's relationship with Jay Kelso (Mace Coronel) was also left unstable after Jay lied about swiping Kitty's keys to host a rooftop school party, hinting at a potential breakup in the now-scrapped Part Four.

That 90s Show enthusiasts have since expressed their frustration on social media, particularly given the multitude of unresolved narratives.

Viewers were left spewing their frustrations across social media as one dismayed fan aired their grievance on X (formerly Twitter), "What the hell?!!!" and pleaded for a decent round-off: "Noooooo, at least give the series a proper ending please!"

Echoing that sentiment, another fan blurted out, "Well this sucks! I loved this show, fingers crossed someone picks it up and we get season 3. You can't leave us on a cliffhanger like that!"

Meanwhile, a disgruntled viewer took to lambasting Netflix with "WTF @Netflix - why do you keep canceling awesome shows?" and pitched for persistence in showrunning by adding, "Imagine if every show was canceled after two seasons just because it's not getting the numbers you expect. Give a show a chance, especially this one!"

Reddit threads similarly buzzed with fans' disappointment. One noted, "I'm actually kind of disappointed," citing "Part 2 was weak but Part 3 was their best and it felt like they'd finally found their footing."

Complaints about the brevity of sitcom seasons surfaced too: "Just another reason why the whole 10 episodes (max) a season for a sitcom does not work at all."

However, not everyone was against the curtain call, as a user pointed out, "The nostalgia wore off after like 2 episodes. It just wasn't as funny. The cast also lacked the original's chemistry."

Speculations are rife that Leia's escapades in Point Place could continue if another platform rescues the axed series amidst high fan demand, but until then, the fate of its third season hangs in the balance.

That 90s Show is available to stream on Netflix.

The 90s weren’t woke…..that’s where they messed it up.
