Having an all-in-one hair styling tool is a nice thought until you look at the price of the leading stylers out there. Granted, you’re paying for a product that can do multiple things like straight, curl and style your hair with a heating tool, so a large price tag makes sense. However, Conair’s newest hair styler performs a similar job to what the Dyson Airwrap does at a fraction of the price. Plus you get to pick and choose which styling attachments you want, making it even less expensive and more affordable than other higher-end hair stylers out there.

The new Conair Style Chemistry Starter Kit costs $39.99 at Target and includes the Style Chemistry Power Handle and the 1-inch barrel Curling Iron attachment. The Style Chemistry Collection by Conair system all hinges on the Power Handle, which is the part of the styler that you plug in, turn on and set to your desired temperature. And you can purchase separate styling attachments to connect to the Power Handle to achieve whatever look you’re going for. Instead of having several different stylers, you just have one that you attach new barrels, wands or irons to and achieve “salon-quality looks at home.”

The Power Handle is described as “lightweight” and has a digital display. This is where you can choose one of six heat settings for your styler that can go up to 400°F. The rest of the Conair Style Chemistry Collection is made up of six ceramic-coated attachments ranging from $14.99-$29.99 at Target and all in equally vibrant colors that make up a fun rainbow. They include a tapered curling wand (lime green), a flat iron (purple plates), a triple barrel hair weaver (yellow), a round heating curling brush (teal), a bubble curling wand (orange) and a 1.25-inch curling wand attachment (light blue). If you purchased all of the attachments, in addition to the starter kit, the total for Conair’s Style Chemistry Collection is $144.93.

Even though it’s pretty new, at least at Target, customers seem to really like the collection; it has 5 stars with 121 reviews and ratings. One reviewer called the starter kit and curling iron "very impressive" and said that they “have nothing but praise for the Conair Style Chemistry Starter Kit.”

“If you like to use a variety of hot tools, this is a great way to build a comprehensive style kit by buying extra attachments,” the shopper wrote in the “closing thoughts” of their review. “Bonus: It’s also easier to pack in a suitcase than a normal iron since you can take off the attachment. Genius!”

Another person wrote that they “really love the aesthetic” of the hair styler's base—along with the “bright colors” that the attachments come in—and liked the velcro strap attached for cord organization.

"After using a wand for years, it was so refreshing to go back to a classic iron with a clamp, so that I no longer need to use two hands to curl each section!” they said in their review. “As a beauty enthusiast, I am obsessed with how perfect my curls are so quickly with this tool! I was able to spray, curl holding for less than a minute, and let go of each section!”

They wrote that they were able to curl their “long hair” in six sections and under 10 minutes (which included warming time for the curling iron). The auto shut-off feature (which turns the styler off after an hour) was also a big plus for them

“I love the size of the barrel and how smooth the metal and ceramic are!” the shopper continued. “I will definitely be using this tool and the different attachments in my regular beauty and hair routine!”

As we mentioned before, the Conair Style Chemistry Collection is similar to the Dyson Airwrap because of the attachment aspect, though they’re very different in how they achieve the different styles. The Airwrap is currently $599 and uses a “Coanda airflow across its Smoothing brushes, barrels and Dryer+Flyaway smoother” so that it can style hair “with no heat damage.” Conair’s system uses traditional heat and ceramic-coated attachments.

So while you aren’t paying nearly $600 for the Dyson Airwrap’s airflow styling technology, the Conair Style Chemistry Starter Kit and collection at Target is a good affordable option if you’re looking for a multi-styler. Plus, because you have to purchase each attachment separately, you don’t end up with barrels or attachments that you’ll never use.
