A man already in the Texas County Jail has new charges against him, authorities said.

Devin Parker stated he was planning an assault when he was released from his jail cell, authorities said. New charges will keep him behind bars longer.

Parker, born in 2002 and listing a Hamrick Terrace address in Houston in court records, is charged with first-degree stalking, a class D felony.

The suspect was arrested by the Houston Police Department on Oct. 1 for brandishing a hammer and making threats to harm someone. He was placed on a 12-hour hold in the jail. While incarcerated, according to a report, Parker made the comment that he would target someone upon his release from jail and beat them.

Authorities said Parker has an extensive record of violence, and the Texas County Sheriff’s Department has responded to calls involving him approximately 10 times in the last three months. Those calls varied from trespassing to assaults, according to a report.

Records show Parker recently allegedly brandished a knife while deputies were attempting to arrest him.
