Sandusky, Michigan - The Sanilac Drug Task Force, in partnership with the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office and local police departments, is once again participating in the DEA's National Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, October 26th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This important initiative encourages residents to safely dispose of unused or expired prescription medications, preventing misuse and environmental contamination.

Several drop-off locations are available for the public to bring their medications, including:

    • Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office (available 24/7)
    • Marlette Police Department at City Hall (Monday–Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
    • Deckerville Police Department at the Deckerville Healthcare Center (Monday–Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
    • Peck Police Department at Village Hall
    • Brown City Police Department at City Hall/Police Department (Monday–Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
    • Lexington Police Department at the Village Office (available during business hours)

For residents unable to visit these locations, the Sanilac Drug Task Force offers a no-contact pickup option. Simply call 810-648-4580 in advance to arrange for medication disposal directly from your home.

All collected medications will be handed over to the DEA for proper and safe disposal. This service helps reduce the risk of prescription drug misuse and ensures medications are not disposed of in an unsafe manner.

This event provides a safe, anonymous way for people to contribute to community health and safety. Participants are reminded to contact local departments for further details and accommodations.
