BRICK TOWNSHIP — Brick Memorial High School’s golf-specific physical education class called Golf From Tee to Green will return for a second year in February of 2025.

Ryan Graham, a health and physical education teacher, established the program with the help of Tim Brennan, physical education teacher.

“I thought it would be a great idea to establish a golf class into our physical education program. We needed to create something new for phys ed just like Mr. Brennan did with our Hooked on Fishing class years ago,” said Graham.

Graham said he spoke about the program with current Principal Ed Sarluca and began planning the class a few years ago.

“With the help of Tim Brennan, I was able to put a plan in place and map out what I wanted to do. Tim laid the groundwork with his class as far as transportation and all the logistics. I began to write a curriculum for the class and it got approved by Central Administration for the 2023-2024 school year,” said Graham.

According to Graham, he has connections in the golf industry and was able to contact local golf facilities in the area that could potentially go to during the class.

Graham said, “I reached out to 3G Golf in Point Pleasant Beach and Golfkings in Brick. Both owners were great to work with and opened their businesses up to us on a weekly basis. We also worked with Rylee Plitz, Head Golf Professional at Eagle Ridge Golf Club in Lakewood.”
