Rivertown Running races to open this week

Welcome your new neighborhood business, Downtown Bainbridge. On Monday morning, Rivertown Running held their soft opening at 214 E. Water Street. The store provides quality shoes for activities that deal with running and walking. Owner Heath Sanders is a running guru, who has participated in marathons. Sanders states “it’s one of my hobbies.” He came to Bainbridge because “he loves the growth of the downtown square, and the River Trail.” He exclaimed, “There’s a lot of opportunity there for people to get in shape and live better.” Furthermore, his store’s location provides easy access for Bainbridge residents who visit his store in Cairo called South Georgia Outdoors. Heath will advise and provide you with a good pair of running shoes using his knowledge, experience, and technology sidekick Aetrex.

Aetrex is a foot scanning device that captures a 3-D image of your feet. The device informs you about your feet’s length, width, height, arch, and pressure points. For example, Aetrex reads your data, and Sanders informs you about your feet. So, if “your feet pronate which means your ankles go inward when you walk, then you need a stability shoe because it has rails to help keep your foot straight.” It’s a useful device for anyone who wants to understand their feet. It also gives Heath an idea of what shoes fit you.

Sanders states that Rivertown Running isn’t just a normal shoe store. It is “a running specialty shoe store. We fit the sale instead of the sale to fit.” Sanders proclaimed, “a lot of your big box stores just sell the shoes that you come in and ask for, but we actually scan your feet, and we want you to buy the shoes that make you more comfortable and injury free.” Sanders has a variety of shoes to choose from like Brooks, Saucony, New Balance, Mizuno, Topo, Salomon, and many more.

Sanders is also equipped with items like socks, insoles, orthotics, running shirts, pickleball supplies, and nutrition bars. The store’s grand opening will be October 4 at 10:30am. It will have a ribbon cutting ceremony, giveaway drawings, reps from Mizuno, Topo, and Oofos, and drinks from the Flint River Nutrition.
