Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has spoken to the media ahead of welcoming Liverpool to Selhurst Park for a 12:30pm kick off on Saturday. He has confirmed that he will be without five members of his first team squad.

As such, he will be deprived of more players than Arne Slot will be for the clash. The Liverpool head coach looks likely to be without two men , Harvey Elliott and Federico Chiesa .

“Wait and see,” Slot said when asked about the Italian , who missed the 2-0 win over Bologna in midweek . “He didn't train for the last two days. Even if he can train, I still have a decision to make whether he will play or not as I can only choose a certain amount of players.”

Per Premier Injuries , Palace are currently without five first team players: Cheick Doucoure, Matheus Franca de Oliveira, Rob Holding, Chadi Riad and Chris Richards. In his press conference, Glasner began by clarifying the situation with Franca.

“Unfortunately he is injured again,” he said ( via the club website ). “It’s his abductor groin. It is a tough situation for him especially and for us. I don’t expect that he plays many games for us in 2024. We don’t know exactly how long it takes but it will take several weeks.

“No one else is back, but no one else is out, so it is still the squad. Then let’s see what happens during the international break,” Glasner said, before adding: “With Cheick Doucouré, it could be that he joins training in the second week of the international break.”

One man who has yet to make his Palace debut is Trevoh Chalobah, who is on loan at Selhurst Park from Chelsea . He might feature against the Reds this weekend though.

“[Chalobah] has had one more training week with us. Every training session is good for him to get to his best shape, and he has looked quite good this week. He is coming closer to start and it’s good for us that we get more options, so let’s see what happens tomorrow,” Glasner concluded.

The Crystal Palace manager will hope he gets as many players back as soon as he can. The Eagles have yet to win a league game in 2024/25, with matches against Tottenham and Aston Villa to come before October is out. Liverpool will arrive in better form and with more of its squad available, so it could prove to be a long afternoon for Palace.
