Grab the tissues, Emo Cowgirls. Megan Moroney is hitting fans with three new songs as a part of her sophomore album's deluxe release. Megan Moroney is in her blue era, extending the storyline from Am I Okay? with some melancholy tracks on Am I Okay? (I'll Be Fine) . "The deluxe album, 'Am I Okay? (I’ll Be Fine)' is out this Friday, featuring 3 new songs." https://www.instagram.com/p/DAlfTBhxyhR/?img_index=1 The girl does not slow down when it comes to songwriting. When Moroney announced the secondary version of the record, she gave fans insight into what inspired these songs. After reading what inspired each song, our girl Megan was going through it when recording
Am I Okay? "'Break It Right Back:' The love songs that start the album were short-lived, and this song explains why. 'Bless Your Heart:' 'I'm Not Pretty's' older sister written specifically for the internet (& real life) assholes we all know and love. 'I'll Be Fine:' The 6'2" dream and I broke up the day before I sang vocals for the title track. I remember being in the studio, holding back the tears, thinking, "How am I gonna sing this every night? Should I just trash this song & rename the album?' I knew everything was gonna be fine, but I just needed to talk myself into it & that's what this song is." The fan favorite "Break It Right Back"
is one I am sure all the girls are listening to on full blast right now. The lyrics perfectly detail the feeling that you were baited and switched when it comes to a boyfriend. From being loving and affectionate and saying how they see a future with you to leaving you high and dry, making you feel like you're the problem, it's a total 180-degree flip of feelings. "You weren't supposed to be just like the rest You swore up and down that, you loved me to death Now we're in my driveway, and I'm now your ex 'Cause I'm way too much, and you need something less Oh, why does this happen every time? What's wrong with me? Am I that bad?
You felt like you had to take my broken heart and fix it Just to turn around, turn around And break it right back, break it right back..." The melody pairs perfectly with the lyrical delivery. The light and airy vocals in the beginning set up listeners for the heavy-hitting composition in the chorus, which mimics the feeling of devastation as she feels like she fell for this man's trap again. To anyone who relates a little too hard to this song might be worth firing up "I'll Be Fine" afterward as a reminder that there is a light at the end of the heartbreak tunnel. The self-proclaimed Emo Cowgirl knows how to write songs that connect to all and strike a deep chord. Her raw and vulnerable storytelling puts it all on the table: the good, the bad, the comical, and the ugly. Turn it all the way up.
