The second suspect in an Olney aggravated assault that occurred in May took a plea deal this week for eight years deferred adjudication.

Patrick Rater, 32, and Summer Krick, 22, were arrested Saturday, June 8 and extradited back to the state following an aggravated assault which occurred Wednesday, May 15 in Olney.

Krick took a plea deal Wednesday, Sept. 11 of seven years in prison and Rater accepted a plea deal Tuesday, Oct. 1 for eight years deferred adjudication. Both were facing the charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Rater was also charged with completing the Substance Abuse Felony Treatment Program (SAFTF) or the Relapse SAFTF and will be required to complete 240 hours of community service.

Krick and Rater were indicted by a Young County grand jury in July.

According to a probable cause affidavit, an Olney Police Department officer was dispatched to a disturbance call at approximately 11 p.m. Wednesday, May 15 regarding a woman who had endured a stab wound and needed assistance.

The victim was transported to Olney Hamilton Hospital, where she was treated for her injuries.

In her interview about the incident, she explained Rater had contacted her via text message using an unidentified number. He asked to be allowed into the house to retrieve personal belongings.

Rater stated another woman, Krick, who the victim claims was involved with Rater, would not be with him when he arrived. He alleged Krick accused him of trying to reconcile with the victim.

Shortly after Rater arrived, Krick allegedly attempted to enter the residence through the back door, according to probable cause affidavits. Rater left from the front entrance, walked around the house and met Krick.

The victim asked her son to contact the police before opening the backdoor to tell the couple to leave.

While Rater was talking with the victim the affidavit states Krick ran around the corner and attacked her.

According to one of the affidavits, surveillance footage shows Krick holding something resembling a knife or boxcutter-type object, and the couple fleeing before law enforcement arrived.

The victim sustained a 1.5-inch laceration to the mid-back, a one-inch laceration to her right thumb and minor cuts on her left forearm.

Warrants were issued for Rater and Krick who fled to Hempstead County, Arkansas. The two were arrested two days after the attack and extradited to the Young County Jail, where they remained until they took pleas.
