Chelsea supporters will be hoping for a positive outcome in their match against Nottingham Forest, but securing three points isn't the only concern on Sunday.

This is due to two of Chelsea's key defenders being on the verge of suspension. If they each receive a yellow card, they would be ruled out of the crucial encounter with Liverpool following the international break.

Both Marc Cucurella and Wesley Fofana have accumulated four yellow cards each this season, putting them one caution away from a one-match ban.

  • Man Utd now want to sign player Liverpool had $7 million bid rejected for this summer
  • Given the importance of the Blues' trip to Anfield on October 20, every tackle by Cucurella and Fofana will undoubtedly have Chelsea fans on edge this Sunday.

The Chelsea duo aren't the only ones walking a disciplinary tightrope this week, as Fulham's Sasa Lukic, Ipswich's Sam Morsy and Newcastle's Joelinton are all at risk of suspension too.

Despite being heavy favorites for their match with Nottingham Forest, Nuno Espirito Santo's side have started the season strongly. Forest have only tasted defeat once so far, boasting two wins and three draws.

The Midlands team are exceeding expectations, currently occupying 9th place. They've already caused a major upset this season with their 1-0 victory at Liverpool.

Chelsea, currently sitting in fourth place just a few points behind leaders Liverpool, have been showcasing some impressive attacking football under Maresca's guidance, netting seven goals in their last two matches.

Maresca, who joined Chelsea this summer after managing Leicester, is eager to keep this momentum going throughout the season, with his sights set on securing a Champions League spot for the Blues.

The team will also be entering their match against Forest with high spirits following their 4-2 victory over Gent in the Europa Conference League at home on Thursday night, a game in which Cucurella remained on the bench.
