CBS Renews ‘S.W.A.T.’ for a Seventh Season After Facing Fan Backlash Over Cancellation

Thankfully, it seems as though S.W.A.T. will never die. The series was initially canceled after a sixth season, but the decision was reversed and S.W.A.T. was renewed for a seventh and supposedly final season.

And then the same thing happened… again! S.W.A.T. will return for an eighth season on CBS!

“Here at CBS, we always ‘stay liquid’ and love a good dramatic twist, especially when it leads to an eighth season of S.W.A.T.! ,” President of CBS Entertainment Amy Reisenbach said in a statement . “The show continues to resonate with viewers thanks to our talented cast led by Shemar Moore and our amazing writers and producers who keep the show relevant and action-packed. We’re very pleased to renew it again and incredibly grateful to our partners at Sony, CBS Studios and Shemar for working so closely with us to bring it back for next season.”

New episdoes are premiering soon! S.W.A.T Season 8 debuts Friday, October 18 on CBS.

No official release date has been announced. The Season 7 finale aired May 17, 2024, on CBS, and the entire season premiered October 4, 2024, on Netflix. Based on that info, we expect Season 8 to drop on Netflix about four to five months after the eighth season finale airs on CBS.

Yes! New episodes will stream live on Paramount+ with Showtime and will be available to stream next day for Paramount+ Essential subscribers.
