True crime enthusiasts say that "spooky season really started with a bang" after an Ohio began documenting the discovery of a potential illicit burial site in her own backyard.

Katie Santry and her boyfriend uncovered a rug buried on their property as they were digging to prepare for the installation of a new fence—which just about everyone is convinced is concealing a body—and from there, they made connections between all manner of eerie coincidences.

In a series of videos uploaded to TikTok , Santry documented the bizarre discovery—which, at first, they thought nothing of—and slowly linked it to other strange happenings.

Days after finding the rug, which they'd been unable to completely unearth on their own due to the state of the ground and surrounding landscape, Santry entered her office to find her computer shattered and desk left in disarray. Every other member of the family swore they had nothing to do with it, leading the woman to wonder, "Is there a dead body in that rug? Or is it the ghost of the rug’s past?"

Also strangely timed was the neighboring house getting boarded up after the owner had passed away. "So it was just a series of weird, coincidental events that, with a creative mind, could be construed as ghostly," she told People .

Eventually, Santry got the police involved, though they weren't too keen on investigating at first due to the difficulty in accessing the rug. But after cadaver dogs alerted to a possible body concealed within the hole, the investigation quickly became more serious.

The last update came approximately two hours before writing, with Santry watching investigators widen the hole from inside of her house. She hoped the dogs were having an "off" day or caught a scent on the wind or in the recent rain that led to a "silly goose waste of time" rather than uncovering a probable crime scene.

But viewers at home say they've "never been so invested in something" before as they wait desperately for the next update revealing the full extent of the buried material.

"this is what the internet is made for," another follower wrote on X, while a third questioned how anyone could be expected to work at a time like this.

Unfortunately, we have no choice until the next video drops.
