'This is almost comical': Kari Lake goes off on PBS host after he fact-checks her

In a Thursday night interview that AZCentral called " cantankerous, contentious and combative ," Republican U.S. Senate candidate Kari Lake spent almost 30 minutes arguing with, insulting and snarling at veteran Arizona Horizons host Ted Simons.

Lake, who has reportedly fallen far behind her opponent Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ), didn't do herself any favors, reported AZCentral's Laurie Roberts.

"Yet there she was on Thursday evening, swinging her rhetorical sledgehammer with giddy abandon as an audience likely filled with McCain moderates and independents looked on," she wrote.

"...For a majority of voters, unlikable. After two years of virtual nonstop campaigning, Lake has succeeded in boosting the number of Arizonans who don’t like her by 9 points."

During one exchange, which can be viewed below, Lake was asked if she still thinks she was cheated out of a win for governor in 2022, because voters have a right to know where she stands on election integrity.

"You talk about me every week on this show, never invited me on," she complained. "You get your group of liberal journalists — propagandists — and you talk a lot about the election. You can't move on."

When the subject turned to the economy, she insinuated the highly regarded Simons is "well off" and doesn't care that Arizonans are struggling, before later accusing him of caring more for "illegal immigrants'' than the people of Arizona.

When the PBS host cited strong economic indicators after one of her attacks on the Biden administration, she sneered, "I have a great idea for you. When you retire here, why don't you go work for Kamala Harris because you'd make a great spokesperson for her policies. Her policies are a mess."

Simons then attempted to explain the way inflation works and fact-checked some of her other assertions about the economy, which led her to shoot back, "This is almost comical."
