    DMPD holding Women’s Policing Forum to boost recruitment

    DES MOINES, Iowa – The Des Moines Police Department is looking to recruit more women.

    The department is hosting a Women’s Policing Forum Saturday morning at the Des Moines Regional Police Academy to provide information for women interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement. Officers will provide training advice and demonstrations for the physical fitness exam, defensive tactics, and hands-on taser use.

    The event begins at 9:00 a.m. at 433 E. Army Post Road.

    The starting salary for an officer is $78,624 and you must be at least 21 years old. You can find more information about the requirements of becoming an officer and the application process here .
