Fans of Adam Huss (Nikolas, General Hospital ) who are looking forward to his new series, Heavy Hitters, can now get a first look at its first official trailer! Created and directed by award-winning filmmaker Candice Cain, Heavy Hitters centers around a baseball combine that fast-tracks college prospects to the major leagues.

“Heavy Hitters has been such an amazing experience,” Huss enthused. “Candice’s passion and commitment to this project has elevated it to must-watch TV! Each day I’m in awe of what we are capturing as actors and as a baseball fan! Candice has been able to capture the exact vision she has in her head for the series and bring it to life through her writing and directing. Everyone is bringing it — from the younger talented baseball players to the coaches. I’m loving the dynamic overall and I relish in playing the antagonistic Coach Rob Mitchell — what a great role she’s created. The authenticity of this show is unmatched. I can’t wait for people to see this.

Heavy Hitters will also see former pro baseball players portraying fictionalized versions of themselves including the Yankees’ Jose Rijo and The Mets’ Nelson Figueroa. Viewers will recognize some familiar faces in the cast, including Jackie Debatin (The Office), Brian O’Hallroan (Clerks), Delaney Williams (Law & Order: SVU), William Ragsdale (Fright Night) and Catherine Mary Stewart (ex-Hope, Days of Our Lives). There’s also another GH alum in the show — Ted King (ex-Alcazar) as Slater Smith!

“Working with Ted has been great,” Huss reported. “Fortunately we have a lot of scenes together since he runs the combine and we butt heads a bit on how we go about doing this when it comes to the rules of the combine. I love working off of the intensity he brings to each scene. It really drives both me as an actor and fuels Coach Rob’s intensity. We’ve spoken at length about his days on GH and my current stint as Nikolas. He loved his time there, and talked highly of all the actors and the level of craft the actors bring on that show. He is very fond of Frank [Valentini, GH’s executive producer], having worked on One Life to Live together with him.”

Heavy Hitters is still currently in production and there is no information yet as to where viewers will be able to enjoy watching the series, so keep checking back here at SoapsInDepth.com for future updates. But until then, check out the trailer below!
