Dog Training Video Shows Labrador Mastering How To Use Travelator

A heartwarming video of a service dog mastering a moving sidewalk is melting hearts on social media. The clip, shared on X (formerly Twitter), shows Pax Belator, a black Labrador Retriever , patiently learning how to use a travelator.

Earlier this year, Marshal Jim took in Pax, a service dog, to start a life assisting his wife, Joey Ramp-Adams, and “being the new face of inclusive advocacy.” Ramp-Adams, the founder of Empower Ability Consulting, Inc., is a Biocognitive Neuroscientist who relies on her service dog, Sampson, to help manage her disability after suffering a brain injury.

Her disability access firm’s website notes she is an “advocate and consultant for disability services with a focus on individuals with service dogs in science.” In February, Pax also joined the pack and united with Sampson for a “common mission to help others.” Now, the pup is learning the essentials to better assist his handler.

Why moving sidewalks are a big deal in service dog training

Pax’s new video shows the brave service dog following Marshal Jim and Joey Ramp-Adams (Mom) on the moving sidewalk. The X post explained the reason behind the training, “As much as Mom and Pax are in airports rushing between flights during layovers, moving sidewalks and escalators are a must!”

In the clip, Jim tries to lead Pax on the travelator but the pup refuses several times. Later, Ramp-Adams joins the canine to show him how to get on the moving sidewalk, and this time, he bravely takes the step. The training then continues as Pax learns how to get off the travelator. The post explains, “Mom even taught Pax the dismount to keep his paws safe, a ‘Pax, 1, 2, 3 Jump!'”

Pax’s efforts didn’t go unnoticed as the pair shared, “Several airport security officers watched with fascination.” They noted the onlookers were “so proud” of the service dog. Several X users also took to the post’s comments to shower Pax with support on his new feat.
