Not only is Ryan an active member of many RMHS clubs and organizations, but he is also an avid volunteer. Before attending the high school, Ryan was a student at Coolidge Middle School and Birch Meadow Elementary School.Ryan is taking many interesting and challenging classes this year. He is currently enrolled in many English and history classes, including Dual Enrollment Ethics, Honors Film and Literature, Honors Psychology, Honors Journalism, and Honors Public Speaking. Ryan is also taking a few STEM classes, such as Honors Scientific Ethics and Literacy, Pre-Calculus, Retail Banking, Intro to Marketing, and Broadcasting.Ryan’s senior internship will be with MC Strength and Fitness in Reading, a provider of strength, conditioning, and sports training for young athletes, where he will focus on social media marketing and business.One of Ryan’s favorite classes at the high school was Film Production with Ms. Cuevas. Ryan revealed that “the class was fun and interesting” and as an added bonus he was “able to film with my friends.”Ms. Cambria, who teaches Scientific Ethics at RMHS, is a teacher who Ryan really likes: “the class is entertaining, and she's also a really kind teacher. She wants her students to not only learn the information but have fun doing so.”Ryan kept busy over the summer. He said that one of the best parts about break was being able to play baseball again, as “at the start of my sophomore year, I had Tommy John and Osteophytectomy surgery on my right elbow. For a pitcher, it was pretty significant. It took 17 months of rehab to get back on the mound which included multiple visits with the surgeon in NYC and multiple weekly PT appointments for 15 months.”Reflecting on his return to the sport, Ryan said that “being back playing is a really great feeling.”Ryan always makes sure to dedicate time to giving back. He is no stranger to volunteering, and has completed several volunteer opportunities, but says that his “favorite has always been for My Brother’s Table,” which is the community service project the RMHS baseball teams participate in during April break.As Ryan explains, “My Brother’s Table provides free meals to people in need.”When he is not playing baseball or spending time with friends, Ryan keeps busy with work. Over the summer, Ryan worked as a counselor at Reading Rec during the week.Ryan loved the experience, saying that “working as a Reading Rec counselor this summer was great. It was a great experience with the kids but also my bosses were former RMHS graduates. Two were my old baseball coaches. Other counselors were classmates from Reading.”Ryan shared a window into this work, writing that “One particularly fun memory was being on Clay Chase's dodgeball team and winning the championship for him and the light blue team.”In addition to Ryan’s already-busy schedule, he is also a Rocket Ambassador and Clean Up Club member. Most recently, Rocket Ambassadors visited freshmen during their flex blocks to introduce themselves and share their experiences with the school. All of this is to help ease their transition to RMHS and ensure that there is always someone they can reach out to. Ryan says that being a Rocket Ambassador has been “a great experience,” and an especially meaningful one, as “I remember being an in-coming freshman and the feelings of uncertainty. I have enjoyed being part of the organization and hopefully making a difference in someone's RMHS experience.”As previously mentioned, Ryan is very athletic and involved in the sports community at RMHS.He reveals that “I have always played sports growing up. Once I had my surgery, I had to focus on baseball.”Reflecting on his experience with Reading athletics, Ryan asserts that “Reading is a great community to provide an opportunity to play sports competitively and for fun.”It is no surprise that Ryan is not only the RMHS Baseball Captain, but also a member of the National Society of High School Scholars.Ryan’s favorite book is The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. His favorite singer is country artist Zach Bryan, and his favorite food is filet mignon. He also enjoys the movie Good Will Hunting.Ryan’s friendships are very important to him, and when he isn’t playing baseball, he is enjoying the time he spends with his friends. Ryan says that he will remember “all the memories I’ve made with my friends the past four years.”Similarly, when asked what his favorite memory from high school was, Ryan shared that “my favorite RMHS memory hasn't happened yet. I'm looking forward to graduation, prom, senior year baseball season, and all the senior activities with my friends and classmates. I think it's going to be a great year.”After graduation, Ryan plans to attend college. He said that he would like to thank his mom, Petra, because “she was with me from the start.”Ryan and his mother reside on Harvard Street.</div></body>
