A new joshi wrestling star may be on the rise as the second TJPW Next Generation Tournament commences in October.

This year’s tournament will consist of eight TJPW rookies looking to seize the biggest opportunity of their early careers. Per DDT’s website , the winner of the Next Generation Tournament will earn the right to challenge for any championship belt in the company. This includes the Princess of Princess, International Princess, and Princess Tag Team Championships.

The tournament lineup consists of Kira Summer, Chika Nanase, Shino Suzuki, Wakana Uehara, HIMAWARI, Toga, Haru Kazashiro, and Shioju Takami. Last year’s winner, Wakana Uehara, will be competing in the tournament for the second time in her career. On the other hand, Kira Summer, Chika Nanase, and Shioju Takami will participate for the very first time.

The bracketology was decided via a lottery in which each competitor drew a letter that corresponded to a placement on the tournament bracket. TJPW uploaded the full video of the lottery draws on their YouTube channel.

Following the lottery results, the first round match-ups are as follows:

Next Generation Tournament ’24 First Round Matches

    • October 13: Toga vs. HIMAWARI
    • October 19: Shino Suzuki vs. Kira Summer
    • October 27: Haru Kazashiro vs. Shioju Takami
    • November 3: Wakana Uehara vs. Chika Nanase
