Aiden Hutchinson Wins NFC Defensive Player of the Month

Well, the first month of the NFL season is in the books, and Detroit’s own Aiden Hutchinson has had an impressive start. Hutchinson has the Lions at a 3-1 record going into the Bye week and was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Month. The defensive end has been a one-man wrecking crew for the Detroit Lions’ defense. Hutch is also one of the bigger personalities on the team, with the entire defense feeding off of his high energy.

Aiden Hutchinson Off to a Fast Start

The former Michigan Wolverine, Aiden Hutchinson is in his 3rd season with the Detroit Lions. Hutchinson was drafted 2nd overall in the 2022 NFL Draft, after being a runner-up for the Heisman Trophy his last year in college. This would give high hopes and expectations to the Lions faithful. So far Hutch has not disappointed. The defensive end has a high motor and is the perfect “face” of a Dan Campbell defense and team.

Aiden Hutchinson is on pace to have career-highs in tackles and sacks. Hutch currently leads the league in sacks with 6.5 through 4 weeks of play. He is also tied in 2nd with 6 tackles for loss. Since entering the league, Hutch has come up with big play after big play. He has become the anchor of the Lions defense and continues to thrive in Aaron Glenn’s scheme.

What this Means for the Lions?

Aiden Hutchinson became the 4th Detroit Lions player to win the NFC Defensive Player of the Month Award. The previous winners were Ray Crockett (Nov. 1991), Stephen Boyd (Nov. 1988), and most recently Deandre Levy (Sept. 2014). The Detroit Lions are quickly becoming one of the most popular and exciting teams. They have been gifted plenty of prime-time games this season, with Aiden Hutchinson as one of the premium attractions.

With the news of Devante Adams wanting to be traded this week, there is another Raider that Lions are paying attention to. Defensive end Maxx Crosby has been quoted that he would consider playing for the Detroit Lions. The tandem of Crosby and Hutchinson would be the scariest duo since “The Brothers of Destruction” (Undertaker and Kane)! The terror these two would bring upon quarterbacks around the league would be like Jamie Lee Curtis running from Michael Myers just to find out he’s right behind her.

Aiden Hutchinson has a quest to become the best defensive player in the NFL. Since entering the league, he has been a menace on the field, making quarterbacks and running backs dreading to play the Lions. Hutch has proved he is the definition of grit and gives the Detroit Lions an identity on the defensive side of the ball. Hutchinson is a straight-up monster on the edge so when you see him doing his best Michael Jackson impersonation celebration, just know the dude is a thriller! By the way, Aiden Hutchinson might not be a bad bet for defensive player of the year!
