Lady Trojans fall in four to Wolfe City

CUMBY — The Cumby Lady Trojans had their three-game winning streak snapped Tuesday, suffering a four-set home loss to the Wolfe City Lady Wolves. Despite playing well early on, the Lady Trojans couldn’t keep up with the Lady Wolves down the stretch, and came up empty- handed.

The opening set was a back and forth affair, as both teams battled for the early lead. Despite a strong effort by the Lady Trojans, the Lady Wolves came out on top 25-21, establishing the early lead.

In the second set, both teams continued to battle back and forth, showing no signs of slowing down. The Lady Trojans edged out a 25-22 victory in the second set, evening the score at 1-1.

The Lady Wolves stepped up their game in the third set, as the Lady Trojans began lagging behind. Wolfe City won the third set 25-17, taking a 2-1 lead.

In the fourth set, the Lady Wolves continued to play at a high level; as the Lady Trojans couldn’t re-establish any rhythm. The Lady Wolves won the fourth set 25-15, ending the game and handing the Lady Trojans a four-set loss.

With the loss, the Lady Trojans dropped to 4-2 in district and 6-21 overall. They resumed action Friday, welcoming the Avery Lady Bulldogs to Cumby Gymnasium for a non-district game.
