Rudy Gobert Doesn't Hold Back on Julius Randle After Timberwolves Trade

All of a sudden, the Minnesota Timberwolves will enter the new season with a drastically changed roster after their revised three-team trade with the New York Knicks and the Charlotte Hornets.

Karl-Anthony Towns, the face of the franchise for nine years, was shipped by the Timberwolves to the Knicks, who also got the draft rights to James Nnaji from the Hornets.

In exchange, the Timberwolves got Julius Randle, Donte DiVincenzo, Keita Bates-Diop and a future first-round pick. The Hornets, meanwhile, acquired Charlie Brown, DaQuan Jeffries, Duane Washington Jr. and three future second-round picks.

The experiment with the twin towers of Towns and Rudy Gobert is officially over for Minnesota. But in Randle, Gobert will get another All-Star frontline mate.

In an interview with Sportskeeda's Mark Medina , the 32-year-old Gobert has already envisioned how he could work efficiently with his new teammate.

"He's a smart player," said Gobert. "He's very versatile. I think that I'm going to be able to help him with my screening, with my spacing and my gravity and make his life even easier.

"I'll try to get him as many easy baskets as he can get."

The four-time Defensive Player of the Year also had a glowing review of Randle's basketball sense.

"He's a guy that I know will make the right play," added Gobert. "When the defense collapses, I know he's good at kicking out (the ball). When the big helps, he's good at finding his bigs.

"We got a lot of games to get used to making mistakes and learn how to maximize him for us as a team."

The 29-year-old Randle was limited to just 46 games last season due to injuries. He averaged 24.0 points, 9.2 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game.

During his introductory media conference, the former Kentucky standout said he "feels wanted" in Minnesota.
