Liverpool boss Arne Slot has provided update on Reds midfielder Alexis Mac Allister .

The Argentine was substituted at half-time during Liverpool's 1-0 win over Crystal Palace, with Mac Allister being replaced by Dominik Szoboszlai. Mac Allister was spotted on the bench after the break sporting an ice pack on his thigh.

After the game, Slot provided an update on Mac Allister who was set to travel to Argentina this week to link up with his international teammates ahead of their upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

Slot said: "He [Mac Allister] went off because of an injury. But how bad it is, that’s difficult for me to judge in this moment.

"He could have continued playing, like you saw because it didn’t happen a second before half-time. But he felt it a bit too much and said, ‘I don’t think it’s good to keep on playing, because you never know if I’ll make it worse’.

"Now, what is the exact situation, can he go to Argentina, can he play over there? That’s difficult for me to tell you now. No, I don’t think [it was his hip]. Groin area I think."

And Mac Allister's injury isn't the only concern Liverpool has after the Palace clash. Alisson also had to go off injured after picking up a hamstring injury which could rule him out for the foreseeable future.

Liverpool.com says: "Liverpool will hope Mac Allister's injury is one that won't mean he will miss their clash on October 20 against Chelsea when they return from the international break. However, in the case of Alisson, it seems as though the Brazilian will miss out on a number of games after the break."
