Packers Send Stern Message to Romeo Doubs on Future After Suspension

The Green Bay Packers have suspended wide receiver Romeo Doubs for one game after he missed practice this week, reportedly due to frustrations with his role in the offense.

Doubs is second on the team in receiving yards (169) and receptions (12). His 20 targets are second on the team, behind only Jayden Reed (22).

The Packers have been trying to get their passing attack back on track after quarterback Jordan Love missed a pair of games with a knee injury. Green Bay lost its Week 4 contest against Minnesota, 31-29.

Doubs skipped practice on Thursday and was not present on Friday because he is upset with his opportunities in the passing game, per Bill Huber of Sports Illustrated .

The Packers responded by suspending Doubs for a game for conduct detrimental to the team.

“Unfortunately, we had to make the difficult decision to suspend Romeo for this week’s game,” Packers GM Brian Gutekunst said in a statement. “His decisions and actions during the week negatively impacted the team and required us to take this action. While we are certainly disappointed, we are confident that we will be able to move forward in a positive manner. Romeo is a valuable member of our team and we look forward to welcoming him back next week.”

Doubs caught 59 passes last season for 674 yards.
