Garth Brooks... one of the most successful recording artists of all time, second only to the Beatles in terms of records sold, is staring down a lawsuit that could wind up costing him million and millions of dollars. A former hair and makeup artist who used worked for Garth Brooks’ wife Trisha Yearwood, as well as Garth himself, filed a lawsuit against him earlier this week, alleging the country music superstar repeatedly sexually assaulted and eventually raped her in 2019. The details are quite graphic and descriptive, however Garth Brooks fully denies all of the allegations and preemptively filed a lawsuit himself the last month, anonymously, where he accused Jane Roe of extortion and defamation. What a mess... In a statement issued by his publicist, Garth said he was being extorted for many millions of dollars, which he refuses to pay:
“For the last two months, I have been hassled to no end with threats, lies, and tragic tales of what my future would be if I did not write a check for many millions of dollars. It has been like having a loaded gun waved in my face. Hush money, no matter how much or how little, is still hush money. In my mind, that means I am admitting to behavior I am incapable of – ugly acts no human should ever do to another. We filed suit against this person nearly a month ago to speak out against extortion and defamation of character. We filed it anonymously for the sake of families on both sides. I want to play music tonight. I want to continue our good deeds going forward. It breaks my heart these wonderful things are in question now. I trust the system, I do not fear the truth, and I am not the man they have painted me to be.”
So the two will fight it out in court where hopefully the truth will prevail and justice will be served. It goes without saying that the accusations against Garth are disgusting and should be taken seriously. And if the court finds evidence to prove that he is indeed guilty of this disturbing behavior, he should be punished to the full extent that the legal system allows... and since this is a civil matter, that means a lot of money. Of course, extortion is a thing and there has been instances of false sexual assault claims made against high-profile actors, athletes and celebrities in recent years, with Trevor Bauer's case perhaps being one of the most notable and most recent. A woman was indicted on fraud charges after falsely accusing him of rape and sexual assault. These instances should be taken seriously as well. A allegation as serious rape carries with it a lot of power to damage someone's reputation and severely impact their ability to earn money going forward. Bauer still hasn't pitched in the major leagues. In the state of California, there is no cap on the amount of money you can sue for in a sexual assault case. The lawsuit has requested compensatory damages, in addition to punitive damages, legal fees, other costs and whatever else the court deems appropriate.

    Garth Brooks Net Worth

According to Ledgernote , Garth is worth roughly $430 million, and of course, that's just on his own, not the money Trisha Yearwood has brought into their marriage. Only Dolly Parton has more achieved more in country music. Shania Twain, the late great Toby Keith, and the King of country music, George Strait, round out the Top 5. According to Celebrity Net Worth , Garth falls in the $300-$350 million range, but either way, it's an insane amount of money. It's no secret that Garth Brooks is one of the best-selling music artists in history, having sold over 170 million records worldwide. He is the only artist to have achieved nine Diamond-certified albums in the United States, surpassing even The Beatles. His 1990 album
No Fences was a major milestone in terms of crossover popularity in country music, featuring iconic hits like "Friends in Low Places." Garth Brooks has had over 20 number-one hits on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, including timeless tracks like "The Dance," "If Tomorrow Never Comes," and "The Thunder Rolls." Brooks has won the Country Music Association's Entertainer of the Year award seven times, setting a record for the most wins in the category. He was named ACM’s Entertainer of the Decade for the 1990s, and has won two Grammy Awards. His 1997 Central Park concert drew an audience of over 980,000 people, one of the largest crowds ever for a music event. Yeah, it's been quite the career for Garth Brooks, who's legacy may forever be changed by this lawsuit, perhaps deservedly so. Like I said earlier, here's to finding the truth and justice prevailing.
