For the first time, the teams will meet as SEC opponents. Texas and Oklahoma are coming off a bye week, so both should be quite rested and ready.

Texas and Oklahoma both used multiple quarterbacks this season. In Texas’ case, Arch Manning subbed in for an injured Quinn Ewers , who’s expected back for this one.

While Manning, the former No. 1 overall recruit in 2023, has shown some elite flashes, head coach Steve Sarkisian certainly coached him hard against Mississippi State.

“I coached him hard today in-game,” Sarkisian said. “We’re always going to continue to push these guys to try to be the best. And I thought there were some things in today’s game that Arch did really, really well.”

It was Manning’s second start in a row while Ewers continued to recover from an abdominal injury he suffered against UTSA . In the win over MSST, Manning completed 26-of-his-31 passes for 324 yards and two touchdowns without throwing an interception.

Opposite of Texas, Oklahoma went from former top recruit Jackson Arnold to freshman Michael Hawkins .

“Great. That’s my perspective but [he] worked hard to make sure he’s got the right mindset,” head coach Brent Venables said of Arnold. “And everybody’s got a role. He’s gotta stay ready, you know, he’s gotta stay ready. And so he’s handled things great. Really, really good in every way. More so than you’d probably think as just a second-year player. And incredibly probably disappointed. It would be naive if we didn’t think that’s not a piece of what he’s going through.”

It’ll be one of the more anticipated Texas-Oklahoma games in recent memory. The Longhorns look to keep potentially a historic season going while the Sooners want to pull off a massive upset.
