Placer County, CA — Motorists traveling along State Route 49 between Auburn and Grass Valley should anticipate delays as Caltrans continues work on a $38 million safety barrier project.

Lane closures are scheduled for southbound SR-49 between Lorenson Road/Florence Lane and Lone Star Road from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, until the end of October. Peak travel times could see delays of 15 to 20 minutes.

Additional closures for drainage work will occur in both directions from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Caltrans advises that the schedule may change due to weather or material availability.

The project, led by DeSilva Gates Construction, is slated for completion by fall 2025. It will include a concrete median barrier, roundabouts, new pavement, sidewalks, and updated signage along a 1.3-mile stretch of the highway. Motorists are urged to slow down for construction zones to ensure safety for workers and the public.
