    Saturday's prep highlights: Cassady reaches another milestone for Maroons

    Maroons take second. Champaign Central (18-12) kept up its recent hot streak, earning runner-up honors at the Belleville East tournament after falling to defending Class 2A state champion Breese Mater Dei in the championship. Bridget Cassady

    continued to shine, making the All-Tournament Team and surpassing 1,000 digs for her career.

    Arthur Christian 2, Kankakee Trinity 0. The Conquering Riders (16-5) came away with a solid win in prevailing 25-14, 25-11 on the back of Addi Erwin

    In boys’ soccer

    Arthur Christian 2, Kankakee Trinity 0. Thanks to a pair of goals from Joe Theriault, two assists from Gideon Wright and a six-save shutout from James Lee

    , the Conquering Riders (6-4-2) were able to pull out a low-scoring victory.

    Fisher/Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley 6, Reed-Custer 0. It was Sid Pfoff‘s turn to shine for the Bunnies (14-3-1), scoring three goals in the winning effort. Spencer Kleist, Logan Heath and Alex Pollard also scored. Caleb Zwilling notched two assists, followed by Heath, Mason Doman and David Hull with one apiece. Parker Baillie and Cameron Kaeding

    combined for three saves to earn the shutout.

    Mahomet-Seymour 2, Champaign Central 1. The Bulldogs (11-5-1) and Maroons (3-10-1) went into halftime tied at 1, with Central’s goal coming off the foot of Roan Sharma

    , but M-S added a second in the second half, which was all it needed.

    Monticello 2, Chillicothe IVC 0. Cannon Ureno assisted on the first goal of the game by Smith Glauner and scored the second, this time receiving an assist from Sully Beccue. Dallas Glauner

    came up with seven saves in his shutout performance for the Sages (6-11-1).

    Oakwood/Salt Fork 6, Judah Christian 0. Just another day at the office for Oakwood/Salt Fork (18-2), besting the Tribe (4-10-2) thanks to a hat trick from Mason Swartz. Macen Phillips, Pedro Rangel V and Cooper McCrae also scored. Phillips added three assists, and Rangel and Saul Carrillo

    each added one.

    St. Joseph-Ogden 9, St. Anne 0. Logan Mills led a strong offensive charge for the Spartans (17-2-1) with four goals and one assist. Also scoring were Carter Turner, Carson Sharp, Zach Harper, Alex Acosta and Cooper Kietzman. Harper and Eli Birt each dished out two assists, and Quinn Stahl added one. Jaxson Colvin

    didn’t have to make a single save to record the shutout.

    Watseka/Milford 6, Bishop McNamara 1. Owen Avelar led the way for the Warriors (14-3), netting a trio of goals. Narciso Solorzano, Jose Tobar and Santiago Solorzano also found the back of the net. Narciso Solorzano, Tobar, David Bell and Nolan Ulitzsch each recorded an assist, and goalie Jason Moore

    In boys’ cross-country

    At Oakwood. Oakwood/Salt Fork hosted numerous area athletes at Kickapoo State Park. St. Thomas More and Hoopeston Area tied for the team win with 48 placement points apiece. Thomas Wells won the race for the host program in 17 minutes, 14 seconds, STM’s Philip Lee was the runner-up (17:39) and Hoopeston Area’s Eli Hasting
