Good morning everyone. The Northeast is sitting pretty today with sunshine and mild temps for the most part, but things are about to change as a cold front sweeps through. That'll bring a line of heavy showers and thunderstorms through the region, with most of the energy concentrated from New York City on northward tomorrow morning. Things will clear out late, then we have sunshine and cool conditions in the 60's for the rest of the week.

That front has a different story for western New York, Pennsylvania, and parts of Ohio for today. A narrow line of strong to severe thunderstorms is expected to develop later on today, bringing with it the risk of damaging winds approaching 60mph, large hail, frequent lightning, and torrential rain. As of now, our tornado risk is low, but damaging winds will be a big player with this narrow & fast moving line of thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, Texas and Louisiana catch a break with the rain, but that's because everything is organizing and shifting east towards Florida. A stationary front has draped itself over central Florida, helping to direct all of that tropical energy from the Gulf of Mexico, and into the state.

While we have a while to go on the big stuff in terms of organized tropical low pressure, we'll have numerous showers & thunderstorms across much of Florida today and tomorrow. Look for widespread heavy rain, locally strong winds, frequent lighting, small hail, and the risk of some waterspouts in coastal areas across either coast and the Florida Keys.

Here is your local NYC Metro forecast -

We'll have one more dry and mild day today, with sunshine and highs in the low 70's.

Clouds increase overnight tonight, then we'll have the chance of some showers and thunderstorms tomorrow morning. Clouds decrease later on in the day with highs in the upper 60's to low 70's.

We begin to cool off on Tuesday with full sunshine and mid to upper 60's. Then low to mid 60's and sunshine each day on Wednesday and Thursday. Things remain quiet on Friday with more sunshine and highs 65-70.
