Five Bears listed inactive vs. Panthers

The Chicago Bears (2-2) have released its inactive list ahead of a Week 5 matchup with the Carolina Panthers (1-3) on Sunday.

Five players will be out for Sunday's matchup, with none of them being a surprise to fans who have been keeping an eye on the injury report this past week.

Here's a full list of the inactives for the Bears:

• WR/RB Velus Jones Jr.
• FB Khari Blasingame
• CB Terell Smith
• DL Dominique Robinson
• DL Zacch Pickens

Jones is inactive for the fourth straight game as he hasn't received much confidence in the coaching staff after muffing a kick return in Week 1 against the Tennessee Titans.

Blasingame is the most surprising as he's a healthy scratch once again. That means backup center Doug Kramer could be used again for fullback duties.

The Bears signed defensive lineman Byron Cowart on Saturday to its 53-man roster, something that provides the team some depth at the position as Pickens (groin) and Robinson aren't active on Sunday.

Heading into Week 5, it was unclear whether Chicago would have the services of kick returner DeAndre Carter and guard Teven Jenkins.

Carter and Jenkins have both been dealing with a rib injuries but aren't listed on inactive list and are expected to play.

Smith is out with a hip injury, meaning the Bears will have to reply on its depth that includes Josh Blackwell and Jaylon Jones.

As for the Panthers, they will be without starting linebackers Josey Jewell (groin/hamstring) and Shaq Thompson. The latter was placed on the injured reserve after he suffered a torn achilles.
