Delicious Coffee Smoothie for a Refreshing Morning

As a coffee person, I like to experiment with my coffee drinks. As my "name" suggests, I usually go for dark roast black coffee. But as I age, I like to try new things. Try my simple and delicious Coffee Smoothie recipe:

    1. I use 1 cup double strength brewed coffee. As this should be chilled, I make enough for a couple of days, and refrigerate in a covered mason jar.
    2. Add a frozen banana. Again, since I try to eat a banana daily, sometimes they ripen too much for me, so I peel them and throw them in the freezer baggie, for use later.
    3. A throw in 3 scoops (1/2 cup)of Greek yogurt . Usually I have honey flavored or plain on hand, but use what ever you have. I don't think lemon or fruity flavored would work.

    1. I like to add a couple of small-ish scoops (3 tablespoons) of peanut butter, but, your choice.
    2. I add honey or maple syrup for sweetness. Maybe a tablespoons worth.
    3. Of course a splash of real vanilla extract. ( I use a capfull)
    4. About 1/2 cup of any milk, and a handful of ice cubes.

Next, just throw all in the blender, and blend till smooth and creamy. Taste and adjust sweetness by adding more honey or syrup, if needed. Be creative.

If I am headed out for the senior center for my cardio workout first, I might add a scoop of whatever protein powder I have, gives me an added boost.

If you are a chocolate fan, add a tablespoon of cocoa powder. I like to add the cocoa powder when I add peanut butter. I pretend it's a Reeses. Or if fiber is your thing, throw in some ground up flax seeds or chia. ( maybe a teaspoon full) Both are good and it's still a tasty shake to start your day. Enjoy.
