Arsenal forward Kai Havertz is the next player to miss Germany's upcoming Nation's League matches against Bosnia-Herzegovina and the Netherlands, with Jonathan Burkardt of Mainz getting a first call-up in his place.

The German Football Federation said on Sunday that Havertz had to withdraw with knee problems.

Coach Julian Nagelsmann is also without Bayern Munich's Jamal Musiala and West Ham United striker Niclas Füllkrug due to injuries for the games on Friday in Zenica and three days later in Munich.

In addition, goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen is out for many months with a severe knee injury.

Former under-21 European champion Burkardt has scored five goals this Bundesliga season, including a brace in Saturday's 3-0 at St Pauli Hamburg.

He is the third newcomer in Nagelsmann's squad, joining VfB Stuttgart midfielder Jamie Leweling and Borussia Mönnchengladbach forward Tim Kleindienst.

The national team squad gathers on Monday in Herzogennaurach.

Also a doubt is Eintracht Frankfurt defender Robin Koch, who was nursing hip problems again in their 3-3 draw with Bayern.

"It is not so easy for him. We have to see if it makes sense whether he really joins the national team," Frankfurt coach Dino Toppmöller said.

"Three games in a week were probably too much," Toppmöller said of Koch who also played last weekend against Holstein and in the mid-week Europa League match at Turkey's Besiktas.
